Melva Elizabeth "Liz" Newton, 80, of Union City passed away 4:09 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2023, at AHC Union City.

Memorial services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2023, at Union City First Assembly of God. Pastor Tommy Hall will officiate. Burial will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Union City First Assembly of God from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Liz was born January 8, 1943, in Odessa, Texas, daughter of the late Chester Allen and Ima Marie (Hail) Parker. She was the widow of Bobby Newton who preceded her in death June 12, 1998. Liz had been employed as the purchasing manager at the former Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton, Kentucky and was a member of Union City First Assembly of God.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kerns of Martin; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Amanda Cagle of Union City; her stepson and his wife, Chris and Tasha Newton of Crossville; two grandchildren, Devon Kerns of Senatobia, Mississippi and Ella Cagle of Union City; two step grandchildren, Tanner Newton and Taylor Newton both of Crossville; and one sister, Linda Morris of Hillard, Florida.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Eddy Cagle; and one brother, Allen Parker.
