Mary Elizabeth "Liz" Edgeworth, 88, of Union City passed away Tuesday morning, December 25, 2018, at her home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Tony Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday and from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Carl Hudson, Josh Floyd, Chuck Floyd, Dr. Rob Jordan, John Vincent and Terry Wiseman.

Mrs. Edgeworth was born December 21, 1930, in Gadsden, Alabama, daughter of the late Elvert and Gladys (Turner) Thornton. She married R.D. "Bob" Edgeworth April 20, 1952. He preceded her in death December 11, 2010. Liz attended Emma Sansom High School in Gadsden, Alabama. She had been employed as a dental assistant for Dr. Gary Mosier, Dr. Merlin Cohen and Dr. Ed Reese. Liz was a member of First Baptist Church in Troy.

She is survived by one daughter, Bebe Vincent (Gary) of Martin; one son, R.D. "Bob" Edgeworth, III of Holly Springs, Georgia; one granddaughter, Patricia Floyd of Union City; two great grandchildren, Joshua Floyd and Ashlyn Floyd both of Union City; one sister, Scharlene Atkins (Don) of Gadsden, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Hudson and Ella Ruth Mullins.
