Obituary

Mr. Linwood Davis Jr., 63, of Rives, TN, died at 5:10 PM Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 at Jackson-Madison General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Bashan Baptist Church in Rives, TN. Brother Rozelle Dotstry will officiate. The family will receive friends at Bashan Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Linwood was born January 12, 1946, in Los Angeles, CA, son of Linwood Davis and the late Billie Davis. He attended Weiner High School in Weiner, Arkansas and was a member of the class of 63. In his senior year, he was a national merit scholarship finalist. He attended the University of Arkansas, and graduated with a BA in philosophy and a MA in history from Arkansas State University.

Linwood was a teacher in the Helena – West Helena school district for over 25 years. He taught computer courses at UT Martin and Dyersburg State Community College and served as the director of information for the Arkansas Firewise Program. Linwood was a self taught computer expert, poet, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

According to Linwood, his greatest accomplishment in life was having made a difference in the lives of his students. His greatest treasure was the love of his many friends.

Linwood is survived by his wife, Sherry "Cutie Pie" Davis; father, Linwood Davis Sr. of Cherokee Village, AR; father and mother in law Ual (Big Daddy) Jenkins and Bernice (Big Mamma) Jenkins; Brothers Mitch Davis and wife Carolyn (and special niece Sasha) and Preston Davis and wife Cathy; Four Sister-in Laws: Euarlene Smith, Deborah Lockwood, Nora Nichols( Charles Nichols), Meoshia Smith-Bogins (Kevin Bogins); Brother -in Laws: Perry Jenkins (Geraldine Jenkins), Paul Jenkins (Ann Jenkins), Raymond Jenkins (Rinda Jenkins), (Special cousin) Lexie Barr, (Special Chili Cousin) Ronnie Barr, Too Tall Kelly (Kelly Jenkins), and many dear nieces and nephews.
