Mr. Lester Darrell Mathenia, 81, of Obion passed away 8:40 p.m. Sunday, January 19, 2020, at his home.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Rosehill Cemetery in Obion . Brother Archie Larry will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Ebb Gwaltney, III, Ricky Ferguson, Ben Pollock, Landon Pollock, Josh Mathenia and Chad Daniels.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lester was born December 9, 1938, in Ripley, son of the late James Lester and Pauline (Miller) Mathenia. He married Barbara (O'Guin) Mathenia in May 1961. She survives. Lester retired from shipping from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Union City and had served in the Tennessee National Guard. He was a member of Living Word Church in Hornbeak.

He is also survived by two daughters, Marie Gwaltney (Ebb) and Phyllis Larry (Archie) all of Obion; one son, Michael Mathenia (Peggy) of Union City; six grandchildren, Tabby Ferguson and Ebb Gwaltney, III both of Obion, Misty Pollock of Hornbeak, Charity Daniels of Troy, Josh Mathenia of Greenback and Kaycee Mathenia of Union City.
