Mr. Leonard Wright Nelson, 71, of Union City died 2:30 a.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Jerry Leggett will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Brown, Timmy Adams, Tim Smith, Jimmy Craig, Richard Chmielewski and James Fagan.
Mr. Nelson was born April 25, 1943, in Trimble, son of the late Clifford Anderson and Willie Lucille (Inman) Nelson. He married Linda (Woodward) Nelson March 21, 1964. She survives. Mr. Nelson had been employed at the former Brown Shoe Company, the former Reelfoot Packing Company and the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He was an avid golfer and bowler, was a member of Union City Baptist Temple and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Lynn and Eric Ogden of Union City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Glynn and Angela Nelson of Obion and Brian Anderson and Donna Nelson of Woodland Mills; one sister, Earline Craig of Woodland Mills; six grandchildren, Cameron Grant of Obion, Hunter Wright Nelson, Ali Nicole Nelson, Bryan Ables and Logan Sean Ogden all of Union City and Paige Ables of Woodland Mills; and four great grandchildren, Alexus Ables, Jordan Barber and Hayden Barber all of Woodland Mills and Tucker Ables of Union City.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Lynn Nelson; and one brother, Clarence Nelson.
