Obituary

Mr. Leaton Lamar Johnson, 87, of Troy passed away 5:35 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Jimmy C. Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Obion.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home on Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Dakota Heatherly, Jon Mychal Heatherly, Russell Doyle, Brian Heatherly, Greg Halliburton, Kyle Cunningham, Evan Cunningham and Shane Wilson.

Mr. Johnson was born September 10, 1929, in Booneville, MS son of the late James "Jim" and Minnie Lou (Price) Johnson. He married Mary Ruth (Boswell) Johnson Aug 15, 1949 in Corinth, MS. She survives. Mr. Johnson was the owner/operator of Johnson Service Station in Troy for 25 plus years and was a member of Troy Church of Christ.

He is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Diane Terry of Union City; Linda Wilson of Dyersburg; and Rita and Dennis Grisley of Hermitage, TN; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Pat Johnson of Samburg, and Bobby Gene and Mae Johnson of Troy; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen and Dan Kinnick of Madison Heights, MI; and Maudie Faye and Marvin Burkeen of Polk Station; eight grandchildren, Gary Lamar Holt, Tracye Heatherly, Shane Wilson, Angie Jenkins, Tiffani Doyle, Jeffery Lynne Barrett, Jennifer Halliburton and Frank Barrett; 32 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Prentiss Johnson; one sister, Gertrude Weaks and one son-in-law, Billy Wilson.
