Mrs. Frances Laverne "Ma Burns" McRee, 93, of Union City went home to be with the Lord at 2:18 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Cecil Sewell will officiate. Burial will follow in Terrace Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Monday. Pallbearers will be Keith Morrow, Joe Morrow, Elmer Nolt, Josh Willett, Craig Dugger and Ricky McQueen.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Baptist Memorial Hospice, 1201 Bishop Street, Union City, Tennessee 38261.
Mrs. McRee was born May 29, 1919, in Dyer County, daughter of the late Major and Lacey (Rivers) Cathey. She was a retired ward secretary who had been employed at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City for several years. Mrs. McRee was a member of First Baptist Church in Union City.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Billy Morrow of Union City; her daughter-in-law, Peggy McRee of Union City; three sisters, Louetta Brown of Humboldt, Johnnie Sue Vickers of Dyersburg and Winona Wharey of Memphis; three brothers, George Cathey and Edsel Cathey both of Dyersburg and Franklin Cathey of Ro Ellen; six grandchildren and their spouses, Keith and Youvonne Morrow of Troy, Kathy and Ricky McQueen, Joe and Lori Morrow, Robbie and Dwight Tittle and Leigh Ann and Josh Willett all of Union City and Tammy and Mike Reed of Paragould, Arkansas; fifteen great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Donald McRee; her grandson, Larry McRee; two sisters, Donna Marie Spain and Lorene Serett; and her brother, Larry Cathey.
