Landon was born April 14, 2014, in Martin, son of Waylon and Maria (Hutchison) Matheny. He enjoyed Tennessee Titans and Obion Central Rebels football, fishing, tractors, going to church, and gathering with family and friends. Landon was described by the staff at St. Jude Children's Hospital as a warrior with a servant's heart. He had been a faithful follower of Christ since a young age and was a member of Protemus Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Landon brought joy and laughter to anyone he was around. He had a way about him to only see the good in every person or situation and never met a stranger. He had just completed first grade at Hillcrest Elementary in Troy.

He is also survived by one brother, Logan Matheny of Troy; his papa, Bobby Hutchison of Union City; his grandma, Phyllis Matheny of Troy; his pap and meme, John and Judy Sawyer of the Shawtown community; and his aunt and uncle, Faith and Paul Travis of Hardin, Kentucky.

He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Anita Hutchison; and his grandfather, Larry Matheny.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959 or Hometown Walk of Hope , 902 Perkins Street, Union City, Tennessee 38261.
