Funeral Live Stream

Mr. Robert Kent Wheatley, 70, of Union City passed away 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery. Brother Ron Gray will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Chase Wallace, DJ Gammons, Blake Walton, Drew Gammons, Mike Gammons and Brad Walton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Russ Thomas, Joey Johnson, Adam Gammons, Tanner Walton and Jock Johnson.

Kent was born May 16, 1950, in Memphis, son of the late Thomas Ervin and Ruth Marie (Milner) Wheatley. He married Elisha (Gammons) Wheatley September 23, 1971. She survives. Kent was a 1969 graduate of Union City High School. He had been employed as a truck driver at the former Reelfoot Packing Company and for A & J Salvage.

He is also survived by two sons, Chad Wheatley of Union City and Steve Wheatley of Gadsden, Alabama; one brother, Tommy Wheatley of St. Petersburg, Flordia; four grandchildren, Brooklyn Wheatley of Nashville, Jacob Wheatley of Gadsden, Alabama, Averie Wheatley of New Orleans, Louisiana and Lillian Wheatley of Gadsden, Alabama; and one great granddaughter, Kyree Wheatley of Gadsden, Alabama.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kelly Michelle Wheatley; and two sons, Scott Wheatley and Christopher Michael Wheatley.
