Obituary

Ms. Sandra "Kay" Atwill, aged 82, passed away peacefully at her home in Union City on the morning of May 21, 2025. Born on September 20, 1942, in Union City, she was the beloved daughter of the late Ezra and Mattie (Carmichael) Gardiner.

Kay dedicated 33 years of her life working at the former Kroger Food Store in Union City and was a member of the Second Baptist Church.

She is survived by her two sons, Trent Cary and his wife Robin of the Dixie community, and Travis Cary of Winter Garden, Florida. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Tanner Cary and his wife Brooke of Union City, and Tatum Fussell and her husband Chandler of Dyersburg, as well as her four great-grandchildren, Trace Cary, Job Fussell, Townes Cary, and Jireh Fussell.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Winnie Siglow, Betty King, Dorothy Haynes, and Mary Nell Phipps, and two brothers, Tony Wrady and Jimmy Siglow.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at East View Cemetery, officiated by Brother Ron Gray. Friends are invited to meet at the cemetery at the time of the service.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Cary, Chandler Fussell, Darryl Scarbrough, Steve Faulkner, Jamie Suiter and Marty Corum.
