Mr. Jimmy Ray "J.R." Byassee, 71, of South Fulton passed away 9:38 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Joey Ward will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Church Cemetery near Fulton, Kentucky.
Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Bryant, Jim Brubaker, Larry Boroff, Ed Southern, Chester Crone and Chris Cummings.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Monday.
J.R. was born April 28, 1944, in Clinton, Kentucky, son of the late Pug and Margalene (Stone) Byassee. He married Carolyn (Cole) Byassee June 4, 1990. She survives. J.R. retired as a truck driver for Farmers Gin in Clinton, Kentucky. He was a member of Jones Walker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He is also survived by two daughters, Kim (Eric) Burtram of Barlow, Kentucky and Samantha (Thomas) Verkuilen of South Fulton; three sons, Eddie Ray Byassee of Clinton, Kentucky, Junior Ward of Fulton, Kentucky and Joey (Darlene) Ward of Walnut Cove, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Bill Byassee; one grandson, Curt Byassee; and two brothers, Bobby Byassee and Billy Byassee.
