Carolyn Joyce Elliott, 73, of Union City went home to be with the Lord 3:45 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Melvin Poe will officiate. Burial will follow in Stanley Chapel Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Seth Daniels, Zac Elliott, Blake Cheatham, LeAnn Cheatham, Kenny Jones and Pat Haygood.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9959.
Joyce was born February 20, 1945, in Gadsden, Alabama, daughter of the late William Kennedy "Bill" and Willie Sue (Thornton) Jones. She married Jim Elliott April 12, 1968, He survives. Joyce had been employed in the corporate office of the former Burnett's Shoes in Union City and was a school bus driver for South Fulton School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Union City where she had served as children's choir director, had sung in the ladies trio group Majesty and had been a Royal Ambassador leader.
She is also survived by her daughter and her husband, Dana Elliott and Tony Wilson of Martin; her son and his wife, Jeff and Samantha Elliott of Knoxville; two grandsons, Seth Daniels of Martin and Zac Elliott of Chicago, Illinois; three sisters, Wanda Cheatham and Karen Doster both of Union City and Shirley Sieber of Gadsden, Alabama; and two brothers, Richard Jones of Leesburg, Alabama and Ken Jones of Union City.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Frances Smith, Helen Grady and Renee Ingram.
