Mrs. Joy (Gatewood) Pleasant, 62, of Martin died 9:40 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Church in Sharon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Brooks Gatewood; her husband of 38 years, Lindell Ray Pleasant; and her step-son, Lonnie Pleasant.

Mrs. Pleasant is survived by her mother, Rozelle (Leggins) Gatewood of Sharon; two sons, Scott Pleasant of Gleason and James Pleasant of St. Augustine, Florida; three step-daughters, Carlene Pleasant of Sturgis, Michigan, Laura Pleasant of St. Augustine, Florida and Wendy Decom of Chicago, Illinois; two step-sons, Darrell Pleasant and Mitchell Pleasant of Sturgis, Michigan; two brothers, Kenneth Gatewood and Daniel Gatewood of Sharon; her grandson, James Ray Pleasant of St. Augustine, Florida; 13 step-grandchildren; and 6 step-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Victory Baptist Church in Sharon. Brother Dan Burnham will officiate.
