Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Johnson Grove Cemetery . Brother Bill Hicks will officiate.

Mr. Gargus was born November 4, 1946, in Fulton, Kentucky, son of the late James Harold and Mamie Ann (Orr) Gargus. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 30 years of service and was a Baptist. He served in the United States Army 9th Engineering Battalion in Germany during the Vietnam Era.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Lori Gargus of Union City; his stepdaughter, Stacey Rudd of Union City; his stepson, Jamie Spence of Dyersburg; his sister and brother-in-law, Cathy and Larry Watkins of Union City; his brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Linda Gargus of Union City; two granddaughters, Magen Gargus and Madison Gargus both of Union City; and four stepgrandchildren, Colton Rudd and Chase Rudd both of Union City and Quinton Spence and Chelsey Spence both of Dyersburg.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Gargus and Shirley Jones and two brothers, Jimmy Gargus and Larry Gargus.

The family will receive friends in the Chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday.

Pallbearers to serve will be Jeff Rudd, Michael Moore, Larry Watkins, John Davis, Chris Wilson and Jeremy Bugg.
