Mr. John B. McEwen, 85, of Union City passed away 5:56 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at his home.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday at East View Cemetery. Brother Steve Matheson will officiate.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Monday.
Pallbearers will be Rick Ams, Frankie Fuller, Hunter Fuller, Rick Workman and Cody Johnston.
John was born July 23, 1939, in Troy, son of the late Joe and Frances Nell (Turner) McEwen. He married Kay Frances (Jett) McEwen March 26, 1961. She survives. He worked for the former Reelfoot Packing Company and the former Bank of Troy. He once owned the Shield of Shelter agency in Union City and also worked at White and Associates Insurance. John loved the Lord and was a longtime member of Bible Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran and loved this country. John loved raising tomatoes in his garden, camping, fishing and being outdoors. Most of all he loved his family.
He is also survived by two daughters, Deborah Ams (Rick) of Martin and Jana Fuller (Frankie) of Union City; four grandchildren, Courtney Workman (Rick) of Dresden, Elizabeth Johnston (Cody) of Show Low, Arizona, Turner Ams of Chattanooga and Hunter Fuller of Union City; three great grandchildren, Mason Workman of Dresden, Adaline Johnston of Show Low, Arizona and Miller Workmen of Dresden; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
