Mr. John Henry "Cooper" Blakley, 84, of the Shawtown community passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at his home.
Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Graves Chapel Cemetery near Troy. Brother Darrell Hoffman will officiate.
Visitation will be held at New Hope Bible Church near Union City from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be David Blakley, Nelson Northern, Lee Blakley, Zach Blakley, Johnboy Blakley, Joe Smith, Timbo Smith and Jeremy Smith.
Mr. Blakley was born September 22, 1933, in Halls, son of the late Jack and Lois (Doss) Blakley. He married Peggy Sue (Terry) Blakley in 1952. She preceded him in death January 5, 2007. Mr. Blakley had been employed as a laborer and was a member of New Hope Bible Church.
He is survived by two sons, David Blakley and Clyde Blakley both of Samburg; six grandchildren, Deanne (James) Mosley of Dyersburg, Lee Blakley and David (Laribeth) Blakley II both of Hornbeak, Danielle (Nelson) Northern of Union City, Zack (Christine) Blakley of the Shawtown community and Jonathan Blakley of Samburg; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Virgie O'Steen and Dorothy Bingham both of Samburg; and one brother, Douglas Blakley of Samburg.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Mae Blakley; two sons, John Franklin Blakley and Jerry Wayne Blakley; three sisters, Ruby Clark, Peggy Spencer and Lilly Rainey; and one brother, James Blakley.
