Obituary

Mr. Joe D. Wilson, 60, of Troy passed away 9:21 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2016, in the emergency room at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Obion. Brother Marlon Stephens will officiate. Burial will follow in Terrace Hill cemetery near Troy.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday and at First Baptist Church in Obion from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Gary Lewis, Robert McClure, David Rhoades, Kevin Scott, Charlie Guy and Shawn Rainey.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of E.W. James & Sons Supermarket in Troy and men of First Baptist Church in Obion.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, Tennessee 38101-9908 or First Baptist Church, 128 West Palestine, Obion, Tennessee 38240.

Joe was born March 1, 1956, in Risco, Missouri, son of the late W.W. and Beatrice (Kilbreath) Wilson. He married Lora (Rader) Wilson May 17, 1975. She survives. Joe was manager of E.W. James & Sons Supermarket in Troy and had previously been a manager at Wal-Mart in Union City for several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Obion, was a member of the Tyree Masonic Lodge in the Crystal community and had been elected as an alderman for the town of Troy in the November 8th election.

He is also survived by two daughters, Angela (Jonathan) Lewis and their children Noah Lewis and Addisyn Lewis all of Troy and Whitney (Jason) Whitaker and their two sons they are in the process of adopting of Marion, Arkansas; and one brother, W.A. (Juanita) Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Hunter Lewis; one sister, Maxine Wilmoth; and three brothers, J.W. Wilson, Paul W. Wilson and Wesley Wilson.
