Mr. Joe Wesley Hammond, 80, of Union City passed away 10:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2018, at Tennova Healthcare – Dyersburg Regional.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Cecil Sewell will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Carl Wayne Hammond, Mason Hammond, Brad Eason, Steve Owens, Jason Riley and James Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Johnson and Harry Johnson.
Mr. Hammond was born January 2, 1938, in Obion County, son of the late Wesley Naul and Beatrice (Harpole) Hammond. He married Brenda (McArthur) Hammond in 1970. She preceded him in death April 17, 2016. Joe had been employed as a supervisor at the former Hubbell Lighting in Martin and was a farmer. He was a member of the former Moose Lodge in Union City, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City and had also served in the United States Army.
He is survived by one son, Greg Hammond of Union City; one stepdaughter, Trudi Collins of Union City; three grandchildren, Jackson Donnell of Memphis and Brianna Hammond and Emily Hammond both of Union City; and one brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Jane Hammond of Puryear.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Betty Sue Hornsby; and one brother, James Carl Hammond.
