Joe Davis' Obituary
Mr. Joe Boyd Davis, 86, of Troy passed away 6:20 a.m. Sunday, December 2, 2018, at The Waters of Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Rev. Glenn Watts will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Brown, Mike Scott, Terry Hornsby, Roger Hornsby, Paul Riley and Bobby Rankin.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn. 38261 or the charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Davis was born May 20, 1932, in Obion County, son of the late James Ambrose Davis, Sr. and the late Nellie Catherine (Smith) Davis. He married Peggy (Chappell) Davis July 1, 1951. She survives. Mr. Davis had been a self employed mechanic and retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He was a member of Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church and had served as a sergeant in the Tennessee National Guard.
He is also survived by one daughter, Brenda Davis of Union City; two sisters, Linda Rosen (Harvey) and Dr. Bonnie Grant all of Memphis; five grandchildren, Chad Davis, Stacy Davidson (Chad) and Nicole Pope all of Union City, and Jackson Davis and Emily Brown (Ben) all of Troy; nine great grandchildren, Ashton Sims, Will Brown, Bentley Brown, Chevy Davis, Jaden Davis, Kaigan Davis, Mason Davidson, Zach Davidson and Bayleigh Long; and a special nephew, Billy Davis of Union City.
He was also preceded in death by one daugher, Catherine Louise Davis; one son, Jody Davis, one grandaughter, Samantha Davis; two sisters, Betty Gersten and Wilma Clark; and two brothers, Charles Davis and James Davis.
