Obituary

Mrs. Jo Ann Brown, 84, of Portland and formerly of Hornbeak and Union City passed away 4:10 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Monday at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.  Brother Russell Zik will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Monday.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Brown, Aaron Whitten, Jared Barber, Tommy Binkley and Spencer Hoffman.

Jo Ann was born September 27, 1940, in Hayti, Missouri, daughter of the late William Bernard and Carrie Ann (Gore) Taylor.  She was a homemaker and member of Second Baptist Church.  Jo Ann loved her family and church family.

She is survived by three sons, Larry Brown (Donna) of Portland, Billy Brown (Deborah) of Dyersburg and Paul Brown of Lebanon; four grandchildren, Isaac Brown (Cassidy) of Four Points, Hunter Brown (Macy) of Martin, Haley Barber (Jared) of Portland and Ashley Whitten (Aaron) of Portland; two brothers, Jerry Taylor (Linda) of Foley, Alabama and Curtis Taylor (Betty Kay) of Demopolis, Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one son, David Wayne Brown; one brother, Norris Taylor; and one sister, Maudie Byrd.
