Mr. Jimmy David "Crickett" Barnett, 66, of Union City went home to be with the Lord 9:45 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2021, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Vann Kissell will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Friday.
Pallbearers will be Doug Richmond, Charles Aaron, Roger Parsons, Jim Cook, Mike Barnett and Jay Hatchett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Nolan, Dale Cranford, Jerry Price and Bobby Powers.
Jimmy was born November 24, 1955, in Union City, son of the late Kenneth Lester and Mora Louise (Davis) Barnett. He married Theresa Jean (Upchurch) Barnett June 7, 1975. She survives. Jimmy a 1974 graduate of Obion County Central High School. He was a member of Troy First Baptist Church where he was a member of Robert Orsborne's Sunday school class and served on the kitchen committee. Jimmy was a backhoe and bulldozer operator for many years. He was an avid coon hunter and loved spending time with his grandchildren and supporting them in sporting events.
He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Scottie Hayes of Union City; three grandchildren, Davis Hayes, Hudson Hayes and Ella Jean Hayes all of Union City; one sister, Joanne Hatchett of Salina, Kansas; three sisters-in-law, Earnestine Barnett and Denise Barnett both of Troy and Brenda Barnett of Elbridge; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Barnett, Bill Barnett and Johnny Barnett.
