Mr. James Lawrence "Jim" Yates, 73, of Union City passed away 8:38 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Ron Gray will officiate. Burial will follow in the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads with full military honors.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be family and military.
Mr. Jim was born February 4, 1947, in Fulton, Ky., son of the late Lawrence Page Yates and Frances (Klapp) Yates Weber. He married Debra Ann (Frady) Yates October 16, 1970. She survives. He was a 30 year U.S. Navy veteran serving in both Vietnam and Desert Storm.
He is also survived by two sons, Jim Yates and William Yates of Union City; four grandchildren, Tiara Yates of Union City, Cara Yates of Union City, Cale Yates of Knoxville and Quintin Yates of Martin; and one sister, Joy Stephenson (Robert) of Kentucky.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Joe David Yates.
