James Walter "Jim" Suter, 88, of Union City passed away 8:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Rev. Jimmy Calhoun and Rev. Roger Shock will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to First Methodist Church , St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Habitat for Humanity. (228 E. Main St., Union City, TN 38261)

Jim was born June 27, 1935, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, son of the late John Thomas and Willa Mae Suter. He married Virginia (Snyder) "Ginny" Suter June 25, 1960. Jim served in the United States Navy and retired with over 40 years of service from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He was a lifetime member of the Loyal Order of Moose and Jones Walker VFW Post 4862. Jim enjoyed spending time at his home on Kentucky Lake and enjoyed traveling and has visited all 50 states. He was of the Christian faith.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Ginny Suter of Union City; his godson, Kevin Kahrs of Lebanon, Ohio and his children, Evan Kahrs of Minerva, Ohio, Karrigan Kahrs of Lebanon, Ohio and Karis Kahrs and her daughter, Elora Kahrs of Cincinnati, Ohio; his cousin, Walter Suter; and his beloved cat, Katie.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard Suter.
