Obituary

James Douglas "Jim" McDonald, 81, of Union City passed away 7:05 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2021, at Diversicare of Martin. He was a former resident of Franklin.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2021.

A memorial service will be held in Nashville at a later date.

Jim was born October 2, 1939, in Davidson County, son of the late C.D. and Mildred Louise (Goad) McDonald. He married Carolyn Faye (Jeanette) McDonald August 24, 1956. She preceded him in death June 15, 2008. Jim was a horse trainer, cowboy, and landscaper. He trained many world championship horses. Jim was a lifetime member of the Tennessee Appaloosa Association. His family was founding members of Williamson County, Tennessee.

He is survived by five daughters, Wendy Clark of Union City, Lynn Cobb and Jennifer Young (Charles) all of Hendersonville, Katy Peach (Jimmy) of Spring Hill and Nocona Ashworth of Shelbyville; one son, Scott McDonald (Tina) of Gulf Shores, Alabama; one sister, Beverly Canale of Union City; two brothers, Tony McDonald (Sherrie) and David McDonald (Kathy) both of Scottsboro; twelve grandchildren, Joe DuRard (Melanie), Dustin Clark (Carrie), Laura Lea, Luke Cobb, Hailey Ryan, Nikki McDonad, Hope Hull (Chris), Clifton Stansbury, Robert Funderburk, Kayla Olsen, Chole Peach and Sam Peach;  eight great grandchildren, Kelsey Peach, Tyler DuRard, Justin Peach, Ayzia Clark, Jayden Clark, Kylenn Clark, Dallas Clark and Brody Lea; and two great great granddaughters, Alaina Durard and Maelea Durard; and more friends than the law allowed.
