Obituary

James Frederick "Jim" Hatchett, Sr., 66, of Union City passed away 8:17 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother John Worrell will officiate. Burial will follow in Stanley Chapel Cemetery near Union City.

Pallbearers will be Alex Zalsman, Nicholas Baggett, James Baggett, Reese Hatchett, Trent Pruiett and Charles Cowell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Jones, Jack Cunningham, Mike Ford, John Kuykendall, Mike Boals and Frank McLin.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.

Jim was born July 30, 1950, in Weakley County, son of the late Fred Lee and Mary Ellen (Ellison) Hatchett. He was a retired state trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War where he received the purple heart. Jim was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Jones Walker Post 4862 in Union City where he had served as quarter master. He was also a Mason, Shriner, and a member of the American Legion. Jim was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Obion.

He is survived by two daughters, Lisa (Tony) Zalsman of Troy and Jamie (David) Pruiett of Dresden; one son, Jay (Teresa) Hatchett of Salina, Kansas; one sister, Lovie Hatchett of Union City; two brothers, Bill (Bonnie) Hatchett of Union City and Jerry (Kim) Hatchett of Troy; one half sister, Linda Engstrom of Janesville, Wisconsin; and sixteen grandchildren, Zoe Zalsman, Alex Zalsman, Elizabeth Collins, Nicholas Baggett, James Baggett, Kaitlin Hatchett, Kallie Pruiett, Trent Pruiett, Lauren Pruiett, Spenser Pruiett, Levi Pruiett, Reese Hatchett, Emily Hatchett, Jackson Hatchett, Abby Hatchett and Jacob Hatchett.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Sally Hatchett.
