James Owen "Jim" Church, 82, of Union City passed away 11:41 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Graveside services will be conducted 5:00 p.m. Friday at Obion County Memorial Gardens. Casey Hood will conduct masonic services.
There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the services.
Pallbearers to serve will be: Kelly Walker, Johnny Dyer, Jessie Whitesides, Ryan Ellegood, Joe Speight, and Billy Ward.

Jim was born June 4, 1935, in Hornbeak, son of the late Elmer D. and Edith (Pardue) Church. He married Janey (Chilton) Church July 24, 1965. She preceded him in death April 4, 2016. Jim retired after 29 years of service at the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and had also been employed at Kelly's Engine Service in Union City. He had been an instructor at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Union City and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Jim was a member of Tyre Masonic Lodge 587 in the Crystal community where he presently served as senior warden and served as a instructor. He was currently serving as Honorary Grand Stewart with the Grand Lodge of Tennessee, was a past member of Union City Masonic Lodge 538, was a honorary member of Troy Masonic Lodge 88 and was a proficiency card holder with the Tennessee Grand Lodge.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Stan Wheatley of Mebane, North Carolina; one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Kelly Church of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one brother and sister-in-law, Clay and Linda Church of Mifflin; and five grandchildren, Hailey Wheatley of Mebane, North Carolina, and Kellen Church, Peyton Church, Owen Church and Dawson Church all of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
