Obituary

Jerry Lynn Williams died Wednesday morning, Dec. 2, 2020, in the comfort of his home in Union City.
Jerry was born in Weakley County on April 20, 1942, to Arthur and Mandy Evaline Williams. He was the youngest of 11. After graduating from Greenfield High School, Jerry honorably served in the Air Force and served a year in peace overseas in Spain. Upon returning from Spain, he  married the former Brenda Lewis Garner of Dresden on June 17, 1966, to whom he was a faithful husband for 54 years.
Jerry worked at the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and Kellwood Industries before settling into sales with Farm Bureau, Met Life and Modern Woodmen. He made the Million Dollar Roundtable more than once with Farm Bureau and also was a PaceSetter in his later years with Met Life.
Jerry placed his faith in Jesus at an early age and led his family in the same manner. He faithfully served Second Baptist Church as a deacon for many years, serving as Chairman of the Deacons as well as serving on various committees. He also taught the youth in Sunday school.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Brenda; and their daughters, Michelle Harris of Union City and Angie (Keith) Vander Steeg of Tupelo, Miss. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Lanzer Harris, Will Harris and Jack Harris, all of Union City, Mary Vander Steeg and Mandy Vander Steeg, both of Tupelo, Miss., and Trent Williams of Crestview, Fla. Jerry's latest additions were Charley Frankum, Finn Frankum and Coop Frankum, all of Union City. He is also survived by his sister, Evelyn (Jerry) Legens of Martin; his in-laws, Clarence and Phyllis Collins, Billy and Wanda Powell and Robert and Donna Bates, all of Dresden, and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jason Williams; several brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at Second Baptist Church of Union City. Rev. Charles Williams and Pastor Justin Hiens will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Hornbeak Cemetery near Greenfield.
Family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Serving as pallbearers will be Keith Vander Steeg, Will Harris, Jack Harris, Paul Richmond, Troy Arnold, Ray Burden and Jimmy Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be the living Williams' nephews.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Second Baptist Church, Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope or a charity of choice.
The family requests masks and social distancing for those who attend.
