Obituary

Jerry G. Buchanan, Sr., 76, of the Pleasant Hill community passed away 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Rives.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Cox, Mason Pierce, Brian Buchanan, Kendell Buchanan, Carl Hudson and Chip Perry.

Jerry was born September 13, 1943, in Lake County, son of the late James "Buddy" and Esther (Vaughn) Buchanan. He married Wanda (Anderson) Buchanan June 24, 1967. She survives.

Jerry had been employed as a truck driver for Kraft Trucking Company for 25 years until he became the owner and operator of Union City Tire & Auto 31 years ago. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City, a member of New Generations Camping Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed participating in drag racing. Jerry served his country in the United States Navy.

He is also survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Pam Buchanan of the Pleasant Hill community and Lori and Gerald Cox of Union City; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry G. Buchanan, Jr. and his wife Laura Witte of Franklin; four grandsons, Justin Buchanan, Josh Buchanan, and Jason Buchanan all of Franklin and Jackson Cox of Union City; two brothers and their spouses, James Richard and Jeannie Buchanan of the Pleasant Hill community and Martin Lynn and Ramona Buchanan of Malden, Missouri; three nephews, Richard Alan Buchanan of Playa Del Ray, CA, Kendell Lynn Buchanan and Brian Lynn Buchanan of Malden, Missouri; and his great nephew, Mason Cole Pierce of the Pleasant Hill community.

He was also preceded in death by one niece, Amber Buchanan Pierce.
