Obituary

Ms. Geraldine "Jerry" Keathley, 89, of Union City died June 8, 2012 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Rev. Drew Hayes will officiate. Entombment will be at Obion County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.

Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family requests memorial contributions take the form of donations to Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 631 East Church Street, Union City, Tennessee 38261.

Ms. Keathley was born December 4, 1922, in Sharon, daughter of the late Jones D. and Beatrice (Price) Harkey. She was a 1941 graduate of the former Sharon High School. She was a 1944 graduate of St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Birmingham, Alabama where she received her degree to be a registered nurse. She served in the United States Army where she was commissioned as a second lieutenant during Word War II. She trained with the Fourth Service Command Basic Training Center at Camp Rucker Alabama and was later assigned to duty at Oliver General Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. She worked with the American Red Cross in Jackson, Mississippi, was the head nurse at the former Obion County General Hospital and was employed at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She had been a member of the Union City Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and was a member of the 51 Couples Class and the S.F. Snider Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Keathley of Union City; her sister, Martha Jo Johnson of Folsom, Louisiana; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
