Jerry Lester Alexander, 71, of the Shawtown community passed away 2:10 a.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Jerry Leggett and James Barnett will officiate.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Kendall, John Sawyer, Sr., Luther Birmingham, Leonard Blake, Johnathan Denman, Aaron Smith, Randy Davis, Josh Dodson and J.R. Jones.
Mr. Alexander was born June 10, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, son of the late Lester Damon and Angie Forrest (Hoffman) Alexander. He married Pearl (Mays) Alexander January 1, 1967. She survives. Mr. Alexander was a retired carpenter and electrician and was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ. He had also served on the board of Reelfoot Youth Camp.
He is also survived by his daughter, Amanda Alexander of the Shawtown community; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Christy Alexander of the Shawtown community; and his granddaughter, Jessica Alexander of Irving, Texas.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Cecilia Garrett; and his infant brother, Max Alexander
