Mr. Ray Jefferson Carter, 78, of Union City passed away 6:02 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at Maury City Cemetery.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Edmaiston Mosley is in charge of arrangements.

Jeff was born September 13, 1943, in Columbus, Alabama, son of the late Ray Jefferson Carter, Jr. and Hazel Lee (Harrell) Carter.  He was a data analyst for 31 years for the former Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Union City and was a lifetime member of the NRA.  He also loved his family, bowling, shooting, fishing and driving fast!

He is survived by one daughter, Lynn Gooch (Danny) of Troy; one son, Allan Carter of Maryville; six grandchildren, Calli Johnson of  Troy, Dalton Gooch of Troy, Taylor Gooch of Hornbeak, Morgan Quinton of Clarksville, Matthew Ferguson of Lenoir City and Cassie Carter of Lenoir City; two great grandchildren; and one brother, Greg Carter of Atlanta, Georgia.

He was also preceded in death his stepdaughter, Angie Morgan.
