Obituary

Sarah Jean Speed, 71, of Gleason passed away 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at her home. She was a former resident of Union City.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday at East View Cemetery. Brother Cody Barner will officiate.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jean was born December 10, 1948, in Martin, daughter of the late Bertrand and Claudie Mai (Moore) Barner. She married Marion "Buzz" Speed October 17, 1983. He preceded her in death May 14, 2006. Jean was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by one son, Jody Ferguson of Gleason; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Raymond Walker of Gleason; five grandchildren, Marissa Celeste Damesworth (Josh) of Paris, Sarah Iris Bates (Joseph) of Sharon, Hunter Chase Walker of Chicago, Illinois and Taylor James Brundige and Olivia Grace Walker both of Gleason; five great grandchildren, Josie Muzzall, Jema Muzzall and Jackson Muzzall all of Gleason, Natalie Copeland of Martin and Iris Skye Walker of Florida; and one brother, W.T. Barner (Ruth) of Jasper, Alabama.

She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Raymond Paul Walker, Jr.; one sister, Martha Katherine Lefevers; and three brothers, James Allen Barner, Earl Dean Barner and George William Barner.
