Mrs. Jauan M. Prather, 85, of Union City died 8:00 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2014, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Dr. Cecil Sewell will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Ray Burden, Seth Prather, Chad Harris, Trent Cole, Greg Dunn and Jim Prather.
Mrs. Prather was born July 2, 1929, in Mayfield, Kentucky, daughter of the late William and Opal (Hale) Queen. She married David L. "Dave" Prather February 19, 1949. He died January 21, 1975. Mrs. Prather retired in May 1998 after 46 years of service as office manager for the former KT Distributors. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Union City for 53 years and the Ruth Sunday School Class. Mrs. Prather had served on the board of directors for the Obion County Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Obion County.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William D. and Kathi Prather of Union City; four grandchildren and the spouses of two, Chad Harris of Louisville, Kentucky, Brett Prather of Nashville, and Seth and Lyndsey Prather and Brittany and Trent Cole all of Union City; and two great grandchildren, Pyper Prather and Tanner Cole both of Union City.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Ann Prather.
