Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Obion County Memorial Gardens. Brother Jerry Leggett will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Clint Workman, Cory Workman, Tim Wright, Steve Emrich, Maley Davidson and Jimmy Cooley.
Mr. Young was born April 27, 1922, in Johnson, Vermont, son of the late George M. and Ruby (Parker) Young. He married the former Katie Kaufman on April 8, 1978. She survives. He was the retired owner and operator of the former Young's American Service Station in Union City for many years and had also been employed at the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Mr. Young served in the 15th Air Force in World War II where he was a B-17 flying fortress bomber pilot. He was an avid wood worker and fisherman.
He is also survived by two daughters, Pat (Mike) McCarver and Cheryl (Ronnie) Workman all of Union City; his son, Buddy Young of Memphis; five grandchildren, Missy (Steve) Emrich, Tim (Windy) Wright, Cory Workman and Kayce Workman all of Union City and Clint (Emily) Workman of South Fulton; and his great grandson, Gage Wright of Union City.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Frances (Green) Young; two sisters; and one brother.
