Mrs. Janie Paulette Dowland, 74, of Union City passed away 12:50 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at New Salem Cemetery in Mason Hall. Brother Darrell Morgan will officiate.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Janie was born September 25, 1945, in Newbern, daughter of the late Finis Wayne and Pauline (Ridgeway) Cherry. She married Danny Gable Dowland August 8, 1964. He preceded her in death August 25, 2000. Janie retired from Children's Corner Daycare in Union City where she had been employed for 30 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Angie Chandler of Union City; two grandsons, Bryan Chandler and Jace Parish both of Union City; and one great granddaughter, Hazel Chandler of Union City.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, John Cherry.
