Obituary

Mr. James Farris Prather, 86, of Union City, died 7:15 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be conuducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday at East View Cemetery. Brother Jerry Leggett will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

Pallbearers will be Casey Hood, Kenneth Hood, Richard Hood, Kendle Davidson, Ed Cook and Gerald Hollis.

Mr. Prather was born February 5, 1924, in Obion County, son of the late William Farris and Beulah Ann (Cloys) Prather. He retired as a lineman with Union City Electric after 30 years of service, was a member of Second Baptist Church, Sons of the American Revolution and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He is survived by his son, William Prather of Winder, Georgia; three grandchildren, Noelle Hood of Obion, Amber Davidson of Memphis and Erik Davidson of Murfreesboro; five great-grandchildren, Halie Hood and Lindy Hood both of Obion, and Gage Davidson, Gavin Davidson and Gareth Davidson all of Murfreesboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Ingram (Payne) Prather who died April 15, 2010; his daughter, Linda Davidson; his brother, Aaron Prather; and two sisters, Mary Crawford and Pauline Roberts.
