Mr. James E. Palmer, 83, of Union City passed away 2:30 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Union City.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Chip Davis and Brother Jerry Leggett will officiate. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Palmer was born September 14, 1932, in Hornbeak, son of the late U.L. and Jennie (Wisdom) Palmer. He married Jane (Hughes) Palmer September 23, 1955. She survives. Mr. Palmer had been employed at Burroughs Corporation in Plymouth, Michigan for 17 years and retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Union City after 25 years of service. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of Lake Road Baptist Church.

He is also survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Syndi and Charlie Russ of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Sara Palmer of Truman, Arkansas; one sister, Wilmenia Rushing of Union City; one brother and sister-in-law, Rev. Fred and Lorene Thomas of Union City; one sister-in-law, Betty Palmer of Kenton; six grandchildren, Christi Field, Charles Alan Palmer, Jacob Palmer, Nicki Loven, James H. Denson and Angela Jo Minton; seventeen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Lodenia Burden; and two brothers, Raymond O'Brian and Homer L. Palmer.
