Obituary

Mr. James Earl Mathis, 57, of Martin passed away 1:13 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Robbie Goodman will officiate. Burial will follow in Hickman City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of services Friday.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Simmons, Robert Denton, Jacob Mathis, Russ Bash, Trevor Hayden, Williams Simmons Jr., Michael Simmons and Dylan Crass.

Honorary pallbearers will be Zach Oliver and Terry Hayden.

James was born August 25, 1962, in Dyersburg, son of Lorine (Burkeen) Goodman of Hickman, Kentucky and the late Earl Mathis. He married Melissa (Simmons) Mathis June 1, 1984. She survives. He was employed at Martin Manufacturing Company for 15 years and was an U.S. Army veteran.

He is also survived by one son, Chris Mathis (Ely) of Edwards, California; one daughter, Marley Oliver (Zach) of Gleason; three grandchildren, C.J. Mathis, Macy Oliver and Nora Oliver; and one brother, Roger Mathis (Lenora) of Hickman, Kentucky.

He was also preceded in death by his step father, Ronnie Goodman.
