Hurst
August 7, 1938 – April 5, 2020
James William Hurst, 81, of Samburg passed away 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of cremation arrangements.
James was born August 7, 1938, in Lake County, son of the late Alvin and Nora Emily (Coleman) Hurst. He married Linda (Carroll) Hurst June 21, 1985. She survives. James retired from maintenance with Oak Haven Apartments in Tiptonville and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Obion.
He is also survived by three daughters, Pat Dial and Debra Dunn Ferguson both of Samburg and Tina Readenour of Washington State; three sons, Ricky Hurst of Dukedom, Richard Hurst of Washington State and Jody Hurst of Clarksville; two stepsons, Bart Lamb of Tiptonville and Scott Lamb of Hornbeak; three sisters, Mary Lou Curlin of Hickman, Kentucky, Jean Hayes of Ridgely and Betty Blake of Memphis; one brother, Frank Hurst of Dover; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, James Robert Hurst; one stepdaughter, Angela Gammons; one grandson, Barry Dial; and three sisters, Helen Curlin, Ruby Stanphill and Juanita McAlister.
