James Gilbert Cleek, 78, of Troy passed away 12:57 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2023, at Obion County Rehabilitation Center with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Chris Brady will officiate. Burial will follow in Elbridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.

Honorary pallbearer will be James' grandson, Benjamin Yates.

Pallbearers will be John Davis, Glen Rudd, Denver Storey, Dan Cleek, Everett D. Hutchison and Jimmy Smith.

James was born November 13, 1944, in Obion County, son of the late James Cecil and Connie Mae (Storey) Cleek. He married Lee Ellar (Long) Cleek May 7, 1965. She survives. James had been employed at the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and retired as police chief with the Town of Troy after 24 years of service. James was an ordained minister in the Assembly of God and was a member of Safe Harbor Ministries in Hornbeak. He loved his horses, enjoyed camping and fishing and spending time with his family.

He is also survived by two daughters, Lisa Treece of Troy and Anita Jones (Mike) of Clarksville; three grandchildren, Benjamin Yates (Amber) of Union City, Kimberly Storey (Denver) of Troy and Hailey Screnock (Nic) of Chattanooga; four great grandchildren, Brayden Storey, Gracelyn Yates, Cameron Storey and Avery Claire Yates; three sisters, Linda Kirk (Jack) of Texas, Pat Hall (Bobby) of Troy and Pam Latta (Danny) of Water Valley; and one brother, Kenneth Cleek (Delores) of Troy.
