Mr. James Robert Cavness, 70, of Tiptonville died 3:07 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2012, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday at Cottonwood Baptist Church in Ridgely. Brother Paul Adams will officiate. Burial will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.

The family will receive friends at Cottonwood Baptist Church from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday.

Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cavness, Jessie Cavness, William Cavness, Phillip Frazier, Preston Johnson and Jerry Cross.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Downey, Sam Green, Stanley Dean and David Smith.

Mr. Cavness was born August 27, 1941, in Ridgely,son of the late Jessie and Velma (Rikard) Cavness. He married the former Evelyn Lonewolf on November 9, 2001. She survives. He was a retired restaurant manager and served in the United States Army. He attended Cottonwood Baptist Church when his health permitted.

He is also survived by two daughters, Pamela Cavness and Jenny Cavness both of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his son, Jimmy Cavness of Beech Bluff; his long time friend and mother of his children, Janice (Tittle) Haynes of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his step-children, Devin Thompson of Watertown, South Dakota and Cassie Monatano-Cuff of New Haven, Connecticut; two sisters, Shirley (Cavness) Williams of Ridgely and Jessica (Caveness) Fair of Newbern; five brothers, Buddy Cavness and Athral Cavness both of Ridgely, Jackie Cavness of Pearl City, Hawaii, U.L. Cavness of Tishamingo, Mississippi and Jessie Cavness Jr. of Ashland City; ten grandchildren, James Smith, David Smith, Adawnya Nance, Brittany Cavness, Brandon Cavness, Karli Cavness, Clayton Cavness, Donald Oakgrove, Jordon Cavness and Destiny Brown; three step-grandchildren, Vincent Angelo Monatano-Cuff, Amathyst Blair Monatano-Cuff and Ryse Elvern Monatano-Cuff; twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Cavness; and his sister, Carlotta Sue Cavness.
