Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church . Father Robert Ponticello will officiate. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Charles Yochum, David Piazza, Paul Cunningham, Doug Martinek, Ronnie Storey, Mike Vallee and Maurice Sims.

Mr. Bowers was born January 18, 1954, in Pittsburg, Kansas, son of James Richard Bowers Sr. of Nixa, Missouri and the late Leah (Bragg) Parnell. He married Kathy (Gatlin) Bowers on November 14, 1981. She died June 24, 2007. He was employed as a technical writer for Greenfield Products in Union City. James was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Union City where he had served as a lector, eucharist minister, was a adult and childrens teacher for the past twenty seven years and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. James was a member of the Obion County Right to Life, had served on the board of directors for Helping Hand Ministry and was a member of the Reelfoot Amateur Radio Club.

He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Jacob Hamrick of Nashville; two sisters, Mary Catherine Gatlin of Only and Sarah Elizabeth Baker of Blytheville, Arkansas; his brother, William Michael Bowers of Huntingdon; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Maria Dockery; and his brother, Jeffery Allen Bowers.
