Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Leggett and Rev. Eddie Mallonee will officiate. Entombment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Second Baptist Church , 831 N. Everett Blvd., Union City, Tennessee 38261.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Charles David "Dave" Sanders, Jr. and Justin Dallas Sanders both of Huntingdon, Jason Lee Sanders of Buena Vista, his great-grandson, Jonathan Lane Jackson of Clinton, Kentucky, Charles David "Sandy" Sanders, Sr., Milas Edward Fitzgerald, and Bill Ross,.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Dana Elizabeth Jackson of Clinton, Kentucky, Holly Nicole O'Neal of Paducah, Kentucky and William "Cotton" Perryman.
Rev. Petty was born April 17, 1924, in Hickman County, Tennessee, son of the late Thomas Lee and Martha A. (Shanes) Petty. He married Colleen E. (Fitzgerald) Petty February 1, 1945. She survives. He served as a insurance salesman for twenty seven years and a southern Baptist minister for thirty five years. Rev Petty was a Shriner and a member of the Rizpah Temple in Madisonville, Kentucky and was a Mason and a member of Blue Lodge 172 in Fulton, Kentucky. He was a member of Second Baptist Church in Union City.
Rev. Petty is also survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Carolyn E. and Robert "Buzz" Daugherty and Norma Kay and John M. Kelly all of Clinton, Kentucky and Katherine Annette Sanders of Lexington; his sister, Faye Cooper of Kenton; and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Lee Sanders and Analee Elizabeth Sanders both of Buena Vista, Charlee Danette Sanders of Huntingdon and Jonathan Lane Jackson of Clinton, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by three sisters; and five brothers.
