Mr. Harris Benford Long Jr., 78, of Union City, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on June 22, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and family.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Charles Southerland will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery near Union City.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Boals, Trevor Boals, Joseph Boals, David Higgins, Phillip Twining and C.D.

Born on November 25, 1947, Harris lived a life defined by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal before receiving an honorable discharge. His military service reflected the strength, dedication, and integrity that he carried throughout his life. 

Harris shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Dorothy Louise Long. Together they built a family that became his greatest source of pride and joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harris B. Long Sr. and Nellie B. Long; his beloved son, Donald Wayne Long; and his brothers, Bobby Long and Mike Long.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Dorothy Louise Long; his children, Vicki Stephens and husband Charles Stephens, Sharmen Twining, and Steven Long and wife Tammy Long; his brothers, Terry Long and wife Sue Long, and Allen Long and wife Jackie Long; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Harris found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed squirrel hunting, spending time outdoors, and relaxing with his favorite western movies. Whether sharing stories with family, offering a helping hand, or enjoying a quiet evening watching a classic western, he created lasting memories for those who knew and loved him.

He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his service to his country, his strong character, and the kindness he showed throughout his life. His presence will be deeply missed, but the legacy of love, strength, and devotion he leaves behind will continue through the generations of family he cherished so dearly.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Harris passed peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of those who meant the most to him.
