Obituary

Gregory Owen "Greg" Marks, age 77, of Rives passed away at his home on Monday July 20,2026 after and extended illness. His devoted wife and caregiver, Teresa Marks, was at his side.

Greg is survived by his wife Teresa; sons, Shank Marks (Karen) and Sabian Chase, sister-in-law, Judy Witherspoon (Donnie); step daughter, Shannon Fowlkes (Jarred); stepson, Chris Thompson (Edie); step grandchildren, Katie Albright (Jamison), Gracie Kehoe (Bobby), Dayton Thompson (Lilly) and Kirben Thompson; step great grandchildren, Liam and Jude Thompson and Jack and Annie Reece Albright.

Nieces Renee Dillon (Rick) and Crissy Edgar (Jude); great nephews, Ricky Dillon (Olivia), Levi Dillon, Brad Dillon, RJ Edgar (Braylie), Jack Edgar, JoJo Garcia and great niece, Mia Edgar; great great nephew, Jax Dillon; and special friends from Hops N Barley Bar & Grill.

After high school graduation, Greg joined the United States Marine Corps and served three tours of duty in Vietnam. Despite the long-term personal cost to his own health, he was proud to serve his country and immensely proud to be a Marine. Following his military service, Greg settled in Obion County and retired from Goodyear after 25 years of service.

His "no-nonsense", direct manner was wonderfully balanced by his big heart and tender side, both of which were on full display around the little ones who knew his as "Pops" and with his fur babies Gigi and Molly. He took great delight in spoiling his wife with gifts and surprises and they enjoyed many spontaneous road adventures. Finding love and deep friendships later in life was a blessing to both of them.

Greg would say that the greatest blessing during his later years with Teresa was finding the Lord. The assurance of his salvation and knowing he would live in eternity with God and other loved ones was a great comfort. A favorite scripture was Mark 9:23. His faith sustained him through difficult days and on his best day, it carried him right into the arms of Jesus.

Greg was a remarkable man. His generosity, enthusiasm for life, curiosity and interest in so many things drew people to him. He was dearly loved by his family and his many friends and will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Steve Carr will officiate.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of services Friday, July 24, 2026.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be mad to LeBonheur Childrens Hospital in Memphis.
