Mrs. Glenda Jean Carter, 79, of Union City passed away 5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City.

Graveside services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Fremont Cemetery near Union City. Gary Haynes will officiate.

Pallbearers will be family.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Glenda was born December 3, 1941, in Hickman, Kentucky, daughter of the late Lester Yates and Catherine (Bowlin) Yates Aquino. She married Billy Joe Stafford June 4, 1960. He passed away March 15, 1973. She then married Jerry Carter October 22, 1976. He passed away January 15, 2014. She worked for Blue Bank Resort for over 30 years.

She is survived by one son, Billy Joe Stafford (Gwen) of Obion; two daughters, Theresa Mummert (Derrick) of Huntingdon and Candy Coble (J.J.) of the Walnut Log community; ten grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Brenda Johnson of Hickman, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Sullivan; her great granddaughter, Madison Riley; one sister, Joyce Freeman; and one brother, Laymond Yates.
