Gilbert Mathis, 75, of Rives passed away 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at his home.

Graveside services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Friday at Alamo Cemetery. Brother Ron Gray will officiate.

There will be no visitation and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the service.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gilbert was born December 20, 1944, in Grandview, Tennessee, son of the late Claude and Ellen (Dye) Mathis. He married Josie (Thomas) Mathis July 31, 1965. She survives. Gilbert retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and was of the Baptist faith.

He is also survived by two daughters, Gina Brackett (Nathan) of Sharon and Karen Groeneveld (Alan) of Martin; two grandsons, Daniel Tennant of Rives and Parker Brackett of Sharon; one great grandson, Jase Tennant of Rives; five sisters, Evelyn Leech of Rootstown, Ohio, Rose Smith of Atwater, Ohio, Jane Woodburn and Mary Priest both of Ravenna, Ohio and Katherine Whittaker of Grandview; and one brother, Wilburn Mathis of Ravenna, Ohio.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Danny Mathis.
