She was born February 13, 1941, in Hickman, Kentucky, daughter of the late TZ Phipps and Carrie Estelle (Hammock) Phipps.
Geraldine grew up in Hickman, Kentucky and was a 1959 graduate of Fulton County High School. She spent many years in the Hickman area and later moved to Union City. She spent much of her life working at the Reelfoot Packing company before its closing. Geraldine then worked for Cox Oil Company before she took her last job at Williams Sausage Company. She spent her later years in the Terrell community of Weakley Co, TN, before becoming a resident in the nursing home setting where she shared the last 2 years of her life with her oldest daughter.
She was a loving mom, grandmother, and friend. Many knew her as Geri, but to her, her most important title was "Maw." She was so proud to be a grandmother and loved time spent with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, reading, and crossword puzzles. In her later years, she enjoyed playing games on her tablet, with one of her favorite games being spider solitaire. She loved country music and was a huge fan of Luke Bryan and Rascal Flatt
Her entire life she was a fighter, but her biggest fight was surviving cancer over 35 years ago. She was forever grateful for her family and friend's support then and throughout life. She was later diagnosed with hereditary spastic paraparesis, and fought with the ability to walk the last 10 years of her life. She found joy daily, despite the struggles she faced. She was loving, funny, and compassionate.
Geraldine was of the Baptist faith. One of her favorite scriptures was John 14:2 "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."
She is survived by three sons, Warner Ray Callison, Jr. (Sheryl) and George Callison both of the Terrell community, and Ricky Callison of La Grange, Kentucky and a granddaughter she raised like a daughter, Niki Callison (Lee) of Martin. She is survived by grandchildren Silas Campbell of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Beth Williamson Gallimore of Dresden, Audi Day (Matthew) of Edmond, Oklahoma, Brittany Callison Winston (RJ) of Martin and Kate Loethen of Caruthersville, Missouri, and Ashley Callison of Martin, and Megan Cochran of Martin; and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by extended family including beloved nieces and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Carrie Suzanne Callison, daughter, Kammye Callison, and grandson Joshua Stone Callison.
Her family would like to thank the staff from AHC-Union City, Weakley County Nursing and Rehab, and Hillview CLC for the care they provided her over the past 10 years.
