Gerald Douglas Garner, 69, of Union City passed away 8:47 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 20, 2021, in the chapel of Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Johnie Dalton will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Ararat Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday and from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of services Monday.

Pallbearers will be Gary Riley, Tim Spicer, Mike Taylor, Chad Fultz, Mike Fussell and Michael Priest.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Jones and the men of Mt. Ararat Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Gerald was born June 6, 1952, in Martin, son of the late Fonzo Thomas and Lesley Eugene (Insco) Garner. He married Pat (Chilton) Garner July 20, 1979. He was a retired shift foreman at the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 37 years of service where he received many accolades including President of Top 10 and Top 10 awards.  Gerald loved his church Mt. Ararat Cumberland Presbyterian and enjoyed singing in the choir. He especially loved singing in the annual Christmas cantata. He loved duck hunting, fishing and in his later years deer spotting. Gerald was a friend to all and was loved deeply.

He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; and two adoring children, Stephanie Foster Smith (Greg) of Oakland and Ron Foster of Union City; his cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Darin, Jeremy, Elijah, Jake, Jackson, Cooper and Jesse; the apple of his eye, his one and only great granddaughter, Sutton Garner; his sister, Shirley Babb (Tommy) of Martin; and his sister-in-law, Judy Garner of Dresden.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Garner and Donnie Garner.
