Obituary

Robert "Gene" Williams, 80, of Union City passed away 3:30 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2022, at his home.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Union City. Brother Ben Lownsdale will officiate. Entombment will follow in East View Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of services Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Robert King, Tim Nipp, Ken Fowlkes, Butch Dellinger, Randall Robertson and Ryan Robertson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Prather, Dr. Howard Ragsdale, and members of the Norman Williams Sunday School Class and the Carlton Sunday School Class.

Edmaiston Mosley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Gene was born April 24, 1942, in Gibson County, Tennessee, son of the late Clyde Russell and Lorene (Browning) Williams. He married Joann (Galloway) Williams July 14, 1963. She survives. Gene had been employed as manager of the former Volunteer Twin Cinema, the former KT Distributors and was the owner and operator of Kitchen Designs at the time of his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Union City where he was a member of the Norman Williams Sunday School Class and was the former president of the Brotherhood men's group.

He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Jeff Hailey of Troy; three grandchildren and the spouses of two, Randall and Addie Robertson of Dyer, Ryan and Alyssa Robertson of Hornbeak and Amanda Hailey of Union City; three great grandchildren, Meredith Robertson and Luke Robertson both of Hornbeak and Max Smallwood of Dyer; two brothers and the spouse of one, Jay Williams of Humboldt and Jimmy and Connie Williams of Milan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Allene Goodwin and Louise Smith; and a infant brother, Bobby Williams.
